Gotham City Improv is a theater, school, and community of comedic actors in New York City. Founded in 1987, it is also the sister company of the Los Angeles based improv company, The Groundlings.

Our 60 seat theater is home to some of the funniest performers in the city. And nearly all of our shows come with a ticket price of $10 or less! For more information on our shows, check out our Events Calendar.

Gotham City Improv offers some of the best courses in New York City for improvisation and comedy writing. You don't need to be an improviser or even a performer to take our classes. Many graduates of our training program have gone on to create their own ensembles and even perform in our theater.

You'll get a start on the basics of improvisation, and learn about our comedy training and performance companies!

Gotham City Improv offers a full training program, including short form improv, long form improv, sketch comedy writing, and specialty workshops such as Musical Improv, Commercial Voice Overs 101, and more.

Students of our program have a showcase performance after graduating each class level in our theater. We also have ongoing shows in which our students get to perform, gaining valuable stage experience.

Can't get here? That's okay, we'll bring the comedy to you! We are mobile entertainers who will customize a performance just for you and bring it to your party, school, or corporate event. We''ll even come teach a workshop. Improv techniques are proven team-builders ... and they're fun!
